The Coastal Challenge 2011 began on Sunday (January 30th) with athletes taking on the southern Costa Rican jungles in one of the world’s most daring expedition length races.
The course was set along Costa Rica’s tropical Pacific coastline but weaved at times into the Talamancas, a coastal mountain range in the Southwest corner of the country. Athletes finished near the border of Panama in a serene fishing village that until recently was only accessible by boat.
Although simple in concept, the race always proves extremely difficult in terms of distance, terrain and the tropical climate. The heat and sun take their toll and severely test the will and conditioning of the competitors.
Lead Adventure Media covered the event providing unique insight into the race including live chat feeds with the athletes, photos and footage capturing the suspense and wild beauty of this exotic endurance race.
Coastal Challenge is an adventure like no-other testing the limits of athlete ingenuity and physical capacity. To see exclusive footage from the event visit Lead Adventure Media (content mostly in Spanish) or TCC Adventures (English).
